When we’re out and about with our pets, the way they communicate with other dogs around the neighbourhood can seem foreign at times.

It can sometimes leave you a bit in the dark when it comes to understanding and acting upon their signals.

There are loads of doggy clues to look out for, though, and once you recognise some common behaviours, you’ll soon know whether to act upon them or not.

For example, when two or more dogs initiate a friendly greeting, you’ll see wagging tails and sniffing of each other’s behind. Should they begin to raise their top lips and snarl, however, it’s a different story.

Understanding the way our dogs behave is key to understanding their emotions.
